Our Village

A little information about our village

Stowupland is a large village just outside Stowmarket with good road and rail links. Stowupland has great ammenities including: petrol station with a small shop, a post office, two public houses, two butcher's shops, a cafe, fish and chip shop and a Chinese take away.

The two village churches, Holy Trinity and United Reformed Church, and the two village schools are all situated on Church Road.

Stowupland has a village hall and a church hall, both of which are very well used for a variety of functions or meetings. There is a children's play park which is located at the rear of the village hall on Church Road.

The very large village green in the centre, Thorney Green, includes a football pitch, an area set aside for the ‘half a mow’ scheme and an area available for planting trees in memorial of parishioners that have passed away.

The Pre-school is situated behind Freeman Community Primary School on Church Road

Freeman Community Primary School

Freeman Community primary School serves the villages of Stowupland, Creeting St. Peter and Earl Stonham. We are a village school benefitting from well equipped classrooms and a large grounds with a community woodland at the bottom of the school field.

Stowupland High School

Stowupland is an inclusive community school where all students can make outstanding progress.

Churches

Holy Trinity

We are a friendly, welcoming church that seeks to show the love of God in Stowupland. We hold many events and services throughout the year, both within church and in the wider community.Our building is lovingly cared for and we are proud to have been part of village life since the church was built in 1843. Why not come and visit us? We are open every Wednesday afternoon for tea & coffee, 2-p.m.

United Reform Church

Stowupland URC meet for worship each Sunday morning at 10.30 am. The Woman's Fellowship meet every other Monday afternoon at 2 pm. Stowupland is situated about one mile to the northeast of Stowmarket and the Chapel is on the left of the A1120 out of Stowmarket.

Village Hall

Stowupland Village Hall is available for hire for private functions and meetings, and by local clubs and groups. More details are available on the Village Hall page.
